sustainability / kaitiakitanga
With sustainability recognised as one of our core values for our centres, we commit ourselves along this journey and we are always looking at ways to increase our sustainable practices.
Ways we encourage and display kaitiakitanga across our centres include:
- Through the use of solar power;
- A reduction in food waste;
- Reusing materials for play;
- Within our gardening practises;
- Using recycled water;
- Collecting and exploring natural resources.
Some learning outcomes involved for tamariki include:
- They develop skills in caring for their environment.
- A growing understanding of sustainability through their every day activites.
- They develop respect for the natural world and develop attitudes and dispositions to think and act as kaitiaki (guardians).
- They engage in learning about the environment and sustainability issues with curiosity and a sense of wonder.
- Support in nurturing their sense of self, as global citizens who act collectively for a common goal.
our environment / te taiao
Our centres are high quality and purpose-built for children to facilitate their learning as effectively as possible. We have an ongoing commitment to maintaining our centres in the very-best manner to ensure we continue to have the best possible environment for your child and our team. Our teachers (kaiako) also make sure to set up your tamariki’s environments with stimulating provocations and learning experiences that further enhance their time spent with us.
