parent involvement
We operate an open-door policy where parents and family / whānau are welcome in the centre at any time. Parent participation with the programme and running of the centre are often sought and we appreciate feedback on learning stories and our Facebook posts.
During the settling in process we endeavour to develop a relationship between our parents, children, and teachers. One of the most important aspects of this is ongoing communication. As well as Storypark, Facebook and notice posts inside of the centre to keep you informed on all our upcoming events, we are also more than happy to have a chat with you when you drop-off or pick-up your children / tamariki.
Your input is something we truly value during your time at Creative Garden. This can be achieved through your participation into our programme planning, policy and procedure reviews, parent evenings, questionnaires, communication books, and your engagement through Storypark or our Facebook page.
You are also welcome to have informal discussions with teachers at any time. If you would like a meeting to discuss any particular issues, please see any of our team leaders or the centre manager to arrange a suitable time.
storypark
While your child is here with us at Creative Garden, we will be documenting their learning through Storypark: a secure and private online space. This is to ensure your child receives the best support possible and that you are involved and up to date with your child’s learning and development.
You can choose to add your own stories or leave comments and feedback for your children and our teaching team. You can also share these stories with family members if you wish. We hope that you will invite your extended family so that the children have an authentic audience who are genuinely interested in their learning.
Content will only be shared with our teachers and the family members you choose to invite.
portfolios
Each child has a personalised learning journal or portfolio which records the wonderful moments of their learning journey.
These portfolios are accessible to children and parents at all times. If you would like to take them home to share with family and friends, please let a staff member know.
Your child’s learning is also accessible through Storypark.

Parent/Whānau events and special celebrations are an exciting opportunity for you to be involved in centre life.
We know that drop off and pick up times can be busy, so we endeavour to provide experiences in which you can interact with teachers and other parents throughout the year through special events.
